Regency Petroleum Engages GK Capital as Financial Advisor

GK Capital Management Limited (GKCM) has entered into an exclusive engagement with Regency Petroleum Limited (RPL) as financial advisor to assist the oil marketing company in raising capital to facilitate the growth activities of the business.

The engagement with GKCM will likely result in an initial public offering (IPO) of RPL common stock through the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

RPL is authorized to distribute petroleum products in bulk.

Initially establishing its brand in West Jamaica, RPL has steadily grown since its inception to become a preferred supplier to many households, hotels, restaurants, bakeries and other local industries.

GK Capital Vice President of Investor Relations, Ryan Strachan, said: “We are delighted with this new professional relationship we have established with Regency. We have always had a keen interest in supporting companies with high growth potential and helping them achieve their objective of capital growth. Given RPL’s performance over the past four years, it is encouraging that it is likely the second company in the energy sector to continue listing on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. These are indications of an expanding market and the resilience of the entrepreneurial spirit in Jamaica.

RPL CEO Andrew Williams said: “We started by distributing LPG cylinders only and have since added a petrol and diesel specific petroleum products retail division. Our current focus is to grow the automotive oil segment of our business, and a capital injection will fuel our strategic plans.

He added, “Like many GK Capital clients before us who have benefited from the team’s expertise, we are committed to staying the course and believe that very soon we will realize our plans for sustainable expansion.”

Patsy Latchman – Atterbury, Managing Director of GKCM, said: “It is admirable that at a time when businesses are still facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, RPL is focused on building capacity and expanding of their activities. We are confident that GK Capital’s advisory services will further strengthen Regency Petroleum’s market position.
