MBA Student Receives Chartered Financial Analyst Award

Annaliese Russell has been named the 2022 recipient of Louisiana Tech University’s Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society Annual Finance Award. Awarded by the CFA Society of Mississippi, Russell received this honor for her outstanding academic achievement and interest in pursuing the CFA charter, widely considered the investment profession’s most rigorous credentialing program.

“I am absolutely honored to receive this award,” said Russell. “I am committed to learning more about finance every day, and being involved in the CFA program is another big step towards learning.”

Russell completed his undergraduate degree in finance at Louisiana Tech this spring and is currently working on his Masters in Business Administration. She recently accepted the position of internal auditor at Argent Financial Group, a leading fiduciary wealth management firm.

“I believe without a doubt that Tech’s finance program made me the person I am today,” Russell said. “Throughout my time in the program, I have received such an amount of knowledge and mentorship that I could not have found anywhere else.”

During her undergraduate studies, Russell served as president of Bulldog Entrepreneurs, executive member of the Tech Leadership Council, cabinet member of SGA, and student recruiter and ambassador for the College of Business. She was also a Fellow of The Investment Society and was an analyst for the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF).

“My favorite part of the fundraising program was helping manage institutional funds through the SMIF,” Russell said. “I was able to decide on real stock market transactions with real money and make financial decisions that I believe will increase the fund to improve the College of Business and Tech. It gave me hands-on experience that helped me allowed me to enter the job market with confidence. The MBA took my knowledge of finance and showed me how to look at that from the management side. My ultimate goal is to work in some type of management role/ financial leadership, and the MBA program showed me how to do that.

Louisiana Tech has been a member of the CFA Institute University Affiliate Program since 2017. This status signals to students and employers that the program is closely tied to the practice of investment management and is helpful to students preparing for program exams. CFA.
