Kutztown University has become one of 260 campuses in the United States to be accepted into the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA) Affiliate Program.
As an affiliated university, KU shows students and employers that its curriculum is closely related to the practice of investment management and is useful for students preparing for CFA program exams.
CFA Institute is the international association of investment professionals that sets the standard for excellence and professional credentials. The organization is a champion of ethical behavior in investment markets and a respected source of knowledge in the global financial community. There are over 160,000 CFA charter holders worldwide in 164 different markets.
As an affiliated university, students of KU will have access to the funding program of a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration which has been recognized to have incorporated at least 70% of the body of knowledge of applicants to the CFA program (CBOK ). This program emphasizes the code of ethics and standards of professional conduct of the CFA Institute and enables students to obtain the CFA charter, which has become the most respected and recognized investment benchmark in the world. Through its participation in this program, KU is eligible to receive a limited number of CFA program scholarships each year.
Dr. John Walker, professor of business administration and CFA charterholder himself, has led KU’s efforts to bring this program to campus.
“Part of the College of Business’s mission is to train students for jobs in the investment field,” Walker said. “Thanks to our rigorous financial program and the experimental learning opportunities we offer, companies such as Goldman Sachs, Barclays and JP Morgan have hired our students. I think this affiliation with the CFA Institute further strengthens our reputation and will make our students even more marketable to companies on Wall Street.
Kutztown University College of Business emphasizes teaching and learning enriched through applied and pedagogical scholarship and community engagement. This program is aimed at students of diverse backgrounds, the business community, and other stakeholders in Southeastern Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. Both undergraduate and graduate programs provide high quality and affordable business education. The faculty directs and engages students to prepare them for intellectual, social, ethical and professional challenges.
Another professionally approved program offered at KU is the Personal Financial Planning Program (PFP), registered by the Board of Certified Financial Planner (CFP). In addition to the PFP, the CFA Institute Affiliate Program will provide greater opportunities to help students flourish and become successful graduates preferred by employers in an ever-changing business environment.
