Avantax Wealth Management says a consulting practice with over $200 million in client assets joined the company from LPL Financial.

According to Avantax, Sullivan Financial Services provides clients with holistic financial services, including estate planning, trust services and comprehensive financial planning.

“For me, it was time for a change, to be with a company where you don’t get lost, you’re not on hold forever, and you can get better customer service and a better overall experience,” said Sullivan in a statement explaining his move.

A 1031 exchange is an exchange of one real estate investment property for another that allows capital gains tax to be deferred.

Sullivan works with a variety of high-net-worth clients — including small business owners, entrepreneurs and doctors — and has built her business by developing partnerships with estate-planning lawyers and certified public accountants, according to Avantax.

Sullivan is a Colorado native who moved to Las Vegas in 1985 on a scholarship to play tennis for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned a degree in finance from its School of Business, according to Avantax. He holds the Certified Financial Planner designation and is a member of the National Institute of Real Estate Plannerssays Avantax.

He has been in the industry since 1997 when he registered with WMA Titlesbefore moving to LPL in 1999, where he was registered until February this year, according to his BrokerCheck file.
