Mariner Heritage Advisors said to have acquired Granite Investment Advisors, a registered investment advisory firm based in Concord, New Hampshire.
Mariner simultaneously added advisers Martha cottrill and Ed taylor, who were previously with the company RIA Taylor, Cottrill, Erickson & Associates, also based in Concord, he said.
Along with Cottrill and Taylor, Granite oversees approximately $ 1.3 billion in current advisory assets and serves approximately 470 clients in New Hampshire, Mariner said. Their specialties include medical professional counseling and divorce planning, and they also offer other financial and investment planning services, according to Mariner.
Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Granite Scott Schermerhorn said Mariner prioritizes customer needs much like his own business does.
“We believe that this ideology and the breadth of experience of their team will significantly improve our work in the years to come,” Schermerhorn said in a statement.
CEO and President of Mariner Marty bicknell said Granite develops financial plans designed for long-term success, as opposed to trendy ones, a practice that “aligns closely” with Mariner’s mission.
“I look forward to being a part of their renewed growth,” Bicknell said in a statement.
Mariner did not disclose the terms of the deal, which was concluded on Dec. 28, 2021. Granite took on the Mariner name at that time, Mariner said. The deal was Mariner’s 13th in 2021 and gave Mariner its first location in New Hampshire, he said.
