RBC Wealth Management says its US division responsible for helping advisors develop their practices has found a new leader.
Richard Beckel has been appointed senior director of RBC’s Practice, Team and Portfolio Effectiveness management group, the company said on Tuesday. A former senior consultant for the group himself, he will lead a team of six consultants working with advisors on how to accelerate revenue growth, increase efficiency and improve the customer experience, according to RBC.
A key part of Beckel’s division is a portfolio effectiveness coaching program that RBC advisors can enroll in. Beckel coached such a Midwestern-based team of advisers that were on the verge of disbandment, according to RBC, helping them identify what needed to change and make improvements, without specifying further details.
âSuccessful financial advisory teams need to be both smart and healthy,â Beckel said in a statement. âWe focus on building strong teams with a solid foundation of trust where everyone is engaged in the work and everyone is committed to getting results. “
This type of counseling has been successful in a remote work environment, according to the company. An internal study found that advisors who participated in the program saw more than 1.5 times the growth in assets and double the growth in production in the past year than advisors who did not. .
Beckel joined RBC in 2017. Prior to RBC, his 20-year career in financial services included approximately eight years with Ameriprise Financial, the BrokerCheck records are displayed. He made his debut at American Express Financial Advisors In 1994.
Working with advisors to help develop their practices has been a priority for brokerage firms, including RBC and Cetera Financial. In October, Cetera launched Growth360, a program that ranks advisors against their fastest growing peers and offers tips on how to make improvements.
