Financial analyst sues insurers for denial of disability benefits

By Rachel Stone (October 12, 2021, 8:43 p.m. EDT) – Blue Cross Blue Shield and Dearborn Life Insurance were sued Tuesday by a former financial analyst at a Texas credit union who claims insurers violated ERISA when ‘they denied his disability benefits after developing a severe neurological disease.

In her Employee Retirement Income Security Act case in Dallas federal court, Tracy Dower argues that insurers’ rejection of her short-term and long-term disability claims was based on wrongly on the assessment of two medical experts who had questionable motives or references.
